Rounded Corners Tutorial

I made this tutorial for my old site Shooting Stars that I deleted. The Friend ID on each image is to my personal myspace :]

Want to get those really cute rounded corners on your pictures?
Like this?

This tutoarial will teach you how! :]
*This tutorial is for Adobe Photoshop; I don't know if it works for other programs.

There are many ways to do this, but this is the way I like to do it & I think it's really easy for beginners :]

First, we'll start off with an image... I picked Paris Hilton :]

You can use any image you want :]

First, select the Rounded Rectangle Tool from the Tools:

With the Rounded Rectangle Tool selected, set the Options at the top like this:

In the first red circle, we want the one called "Shape Layers" selected.
[[it's the first rectangle; this should already be selected by default]]

Then, set the Radius at 40px. But you can set it to any number you want :]
I like to keep it between 30 & 70px [[depending on how big the picture is]]

With your Options set, draw the Rounded Rectangle on top of the picture.
Start from the top left corner & drag your mouse down to the bottom right corner.
You'll get something like this:

To get rid of the fill color, go to the Layers palette, and drag the Fill slider down to 0%.

Now, go to the Paths palette, right-click on 'Shape 1 Vector Mask', and select Make Selection.

In the Make Selection dialog box, leave the settings as they are.
Just click ok :]

You should notice your rounded rectangle has turned into a selection or what I call "dancing ants" [:

Now, go to Edit >
Copy Merged.

Create a New Document,
and Paste what you just copied!

And you're done!

You can contact me if you have any questions :]
